Allyl bromide (3-bromopropene) is an organic halide. Allyl bromide is an alkylating agent used in synthesis of polymers, pharmaceuticals, allyls and other organic compounds. Physically, allyl bromide is a clear liquid with an intense, acrid, and persistent smell. In addition, allylzinc bromide may be produced by treating this compound with elemental zinc.
Sodium ascorbate is a six carbon compound related to glucose. It is found naturally in citrus fruits and many vegetables. Ascorbic acid is an essential nutrient in human diets, and necessary to maintain connective tissue and bone. Its biologically active form, vitamin C, functions as a reducing agent and coenzyme in several metabolic pathways. Vitamin C is considered an antioxidant.
