Imidazole is the accepted name for the parent compound in the series, the numbering of which follows the accepted pattern for heterocyclic compound. Imidazole or iminazoline is an azapyrrole, the nitrogen atom is separated by one carbon atom. This compound was earlier also called as glyoxalin as it was first prepared in 1958 from glyoxal and ammonia.
Cyclohexanone, a colorless liquid is a cyclic ketone. It is an important building block for the synthesis of a variety of organic compounds. Majority of the cyclohexanone synthesized is utilized as an intermediate in the synthesis of nylon. One of the methods reported for its synthesis is by the palladium catalyzed hydrogenation of phenol.
Sodium permanganate cannot be prepared analogously to the route to KMnO4 because the required intermediate manganate salt, Na2MnO4, does not form. Thus less direct routes are used including conversion from KMnO4. Sodium permanganate behaves similarly to potassium permanganate. It dissolves readily in water to give deep purple solutions, evaporation of which gives prismatic purple-black glistening crystals of the monohydrate NaMnO4·H2O. The potassium salt does not form a hydrate. Because of its hygroscopic nature, it is less useful in analytical chemistry than its potassium counterpart.
Carbon black is mainly used to strengthen rubber in tires, but can also act as a pigment, UV stabilizer, and conductive or insulating agent in a variety of rubber, plastic, ink and coating applications. Apart from tires, other everyday uses of carbon black include hoses, conveyor belts, plastics, printing inks and automotive coatings.
